6-15fDon’t forget to place your order for our “Baskets of the Week”, as the season progresses they just get better and better, this is a picture of last weeks basket.  How beautiful they were!

This Saturday we will have our first “Candy” onions of the season along with plenty of squash…both golden and green zucchini as well as yellow summer squash. We’ll also have fresh peas, radishes, cabbage, Swiss Chard, kale, collard greens, new potatoes, beets, cauliflower and cucumbers.  Kenny’s has fresh  dug elephant garlic, a  few vine ripened red Floyd County tomatoes. They are both sure to sell out fast!

It’s black raspberry time… come early to get some for yourself.  We hope to have them around for several of weeks now.

It has been so dry and the temps are rising that we have decided to stop growing lettuce and spinach until the fall.  It’s hard to keep them from becoming bitter once the heat sets in; and even harder to keep them cool once we get to the market.  The quality just begins to decline and we sure don’t want folks disappointed in their purchases.  I will keep you posted when Kenny starts to plant again for fall. I do believe there are some vendors who are at the market that continue growing lettuce throughout the summer.

Don’t forget to pick up your farm-fresh, free-range eggs at the market. Just a reminder that we have been selling out early each week… so come early or pre-order to make sure you get the items you need.

Thanks for supporting us with your purchases at the market,

Val & Kenny
