5-20-12 008What a beautiful week we are having, it’s been perfect weather for us farmers.  Hope each of you are enjoying it as much as we are.  We are looking forward to another great farmer’s market this weekend in beautiful Downtown New Albany.

It’s going to be a broccoli weekend for sure, Kenny says it ready for harvesting. Strawberries are still in season and looking great!  Stop by early to pick yours up. Along with broccoli and berries we will have cabbage, radishes, green onions, new red potatoes, kale, Swiss chard and tons of squash both zucchini and yellow summer squash, it’s happy, happy, happy with this weather too. Cauliflower is looking great and Kenny may cut a few for the early birds.(only a small amount are big enough to cut).

We will have spinach and a limited amount of lettuce; lettuce loves the cool weather but we have harvested a lot the past few weeks limiting the supply. Kenny is trying to keep a small amount of both growing to keep our wonderful  regular customers supplied, but as the temperatures rise the volume decreases as well as the taste. We will also have some fresh cut mint, cilantro and maybe a few dill flowers.

My herbs are still looking great and we still have several varieties available. This weekend will be the last time I bring the individual pots of herbs, but I will continue to bring the larger patio herb pots. Stop by this week  if you need single herbs for your herb gardens.

Don’t forget to pick up your farm-fresh, free-range eggs at the market. Just a reminder that we have been selling out early each week… so come early or pre-order to make sure you get the items you need.

Thanks for supporting us with your purchases at the market,

Val & Kenny
